About the filmmakers
Jouvens Lauture
Born and raised in Jacmel, Haiti, Joven learned to be a provider from an early age. In a home with no running water or electricity, he was always driven to provide a better living situation for His mother. Joven was always drawn to art; music, paining and it wasn’t until 12 years old that he discovered the art of the camera. His photography was featured in a New York Times article in 2010, “Behind the Scenes: Childs-Eye View of Haiti.” After this he realized my art meant something, it could be created and valued, opening up a new world of opportunity.
For years in Haiti he perfected his craft, attending the Cine Institute in Jacmel, Haiti. Now, Jovens live in New Jersey and work three jobs, so he can provide for himself and his family in Haiti.
